Biography

My research involves understanding the electrical transport and magnetic properties of materials. By investigating these low temperature properties of materials, the underlying physics of a material can be discovered. My research is done by varying the temperature, applying a magnetic field, chemically doping the system, or applying pressure to the material; all of which can help to uncover its fundamental properties. My research at LLNL has primarily focused on investigating the changes in materials under applied pressure and low temperatures. This is done using "designer" diamond anvils, which use micro circuits embedded in the diamond as a sensor for either electrical resistivity or magnetic susceptibility measurements.
